| Every year on a cool December Sunday morning Mochi is made behind the Watsonville Buddhist Temple. Working in clouds of steam from cooking rice, the hot batches of rice are conditioned with long poles. Next the dough is pounded with heavy wood mallets. The pounding takes strength, coordination and rhythm (and lots of volunteers)! In the kitchen the traditional rice cakes are formed by hand. Now we are ready to fill your order! Help make mochi and reserve some to take home this December. | |
