The New Year's Eve service known at Joya-e or the night of the last bell is celebrated on December 31st at 6;00 pm. Public is invited to attend the service and ring the bonsho (large bell) to end the year and welcome in 2026

About the event
On this night throughout the world temples ring their bells 108 times. Joya-e no kane or the bell of the last night. This is a symbolic ringing away of the 108 passions which afflict us and bind us to the world of delusion. It is a reminder of the need to free ourselves from the entanglements of our self-centeredness as we face the New Year.
